He has been in the US working for Hillel for the past 8 years, 3 spent as the Program Director at the Hillel of Broward and Palm Beach in Boca Raton FL and 3 years as the Assistant Director at the University of Michigan Hillel, Joel is in his second year as the Director of the Hillel at UGA . Joel is a veteran Birthright Israel informal educator having been a part of 15 trips and lucky enough to have been to Israel over 40 times, Joel lectures around the world talking about Jewish community, identity and where the future of both Hillel and the next generation of young Jews are heading. The new attitude at the Hillel at UGA is making Jewish Life relevant to many Jewish students that attend UGA.
Sarah Adler, Program Director
Sarah Adler is our Program Director at UGA Hillel. Sarah grew up in Valdosta, Georgia, and found her Jewish home away from home at Hillel when she went to school at Georgia Tech and served on Georgia Tech’s Hillel board as Director of Philanthropy for two years, and Director of Student Engagement for one year. She’s really passionate about philanthropy, especially tree planting, and loves engaging students in diverse and new ways. She just graduated in August with a degree in Science, Technology, and Culture (she loves telling people about her unusual major, so ask away if you have questions!). She is so excited to finally be here at the right school with us, and she is loving getting to know all of the friendly students here at UGA. She loves anything outdoorsy, particularly hiking and biking, and also loves reading, eating, and Harry Potter. She is in charge of turning student’s programming ideas into realities, so talk to her if you have an idea for an awesome program you think Hillel should do. Come by the Hillel house and see her anytime!
